Orlando Children's Church

Show up November 2

Our Youth have been going to OCC now for 8 years and we have fallen in love with this ministry. The message OCC shares to these kids is this: "You matter to God. He loves you so deeply that He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to die for your sin so that you can live forever with Him. OCC is your church; it is your little world where you can learn that every action, every choice you make, and every word you speak, makes a difference in this life. Then, you can go out into this big world, and unleash all your goodness and GODliness, and through Christ…you can change it."

We would love for you to join us! Orientation starts at 8:45am at the First Baptist Church Maitland (1950 Mohican Trail, Maitland, FL 3275). Things usually wrap up around noon. If you want to come, make sure to fill out the background check below. We can’t wait to see you there and to spend time sharing Jesus’ love with these kids! It will mean the world to them!

SERVE

Serve is a group of volunteers who go out into the community to help others and show them the love that God has for each of us. In this area of ministry we aim to reach out into the community not only to help make the lives of those we serve better, but to influence and change them by allowing the care and compassion of God to work through us. When we serve we might not be able to give others everything they need, but we can give them everything we have. Just as in Acts 3:6 (Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”), we might not be able to give them everything they need, but we can give them the gift of God's love which is the greatest gift of all.

Orlando Children's Church

Orlando Children's Church (OCC) is a non-profit Christian outreach ministry. On Saturdays a group of buses leave to pick up children from trailer parks in Orlando's inner-city. The children are then taken to the First Baptist Church Maitland. There they are provided with food and are taught about Jesus and what he has done for them. OCC's vision is to see students being transformed by the power of the Gospel to positively impact their communities and the world. Volunteers are a big part of what helps keep OCC's ministry functioning and that is where we come into play.

LIFE GROUP LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Life Group is a small group of students living life together, holding each other accountable, and studying the Bible. The goal behind life groups is that we want to create spiritual community that goes deeper than just surface friendships. Atheists have friends. Buddhists have friends. Christian friendship is like no other friendship on earth. It goes so deep that you should be willing to "lay your life down." John 15 says. "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." We do not understand this layer of friendship and community in our culture. But coming together once a week, studying God's word, applying it to our lives, praying for each other, holding each other accountable, developing authentic trusting friendship we began to truly live LIFE together. Want to start a small group and have no clue how to? No more excuses. Once a month we are training leaders/facilitators how to lead "Life Groups."

Worship Nights (4th FRIDAY of the Month)

An extension of Crosseyed Cafe, this event is "A place to come worship God with the church family.  Come out and worship in a casual atmosphere with food, music, and friends.

Sabbath School Strategy

At Forest Lake Church, our mission is to Live the Gospel, and we want to inspire our youth to live out that mission in each of their lives. Sabbath School is the most frequent of all our youth events, meeting a total of 52 times per year. Because of this, it has great potential to convey our mission and the reason behind that mission to the youth in attendance. We fully realize this, and are making an intentional effort to make sure Sabbath School's full potential is reached. Feel free to look at our Sabbath School Strategy for the next 6 years, and view our plan that will help us to accomplishing this goal.
